Called Gary and he was able to come almost immediately. He did a great job and went above and beyond. Explained everything in detail and was very thorough. He took his time to find and patch up/cover up any possible entry points where rodents could enter, inside and outside. He even had a drone to check the roof. I have an ongoing raccoon problem in my backyard. Gary from Guard More Pest Control Inc exceeded my expectations! He was professional, helpful and friendly. He removed the raccoon feces off of my deck and cleaned up the area (this is an after photo of the cleanup, where the wood used to be a black colour). He sprayed animal repellent and bug spray at the front of my house and in my backyard. He also put a mesh cover to prevent the raccoons from returning (see attached picture). Every treatment is species-specific. We identify the pest, locate the colony or entry point, and apply the right combination of Health Canada Health Canada-registered and approved products. We do not use a not a generic spray-and-pray approach because that will never remove the pests.
The Guard More Process
- Inspect & Identify: We identify the exact species before we do anything else because different pests require different treatments. Pharaoh ants, carpenter ants, rats, and raccoons all require completely different protocols. Wrong identification means wasted treatment and a recurring problem. We inspect entry points, nest sites, conducive conditions (moisture, food, access), and map the full extent of the infestation.
- Targeted Treatment: We apply the appropriate combination of Health Canada-registered and approved products (insecticides, rodenticides, bait stations, traps, exclusions) based on the species and infestation severity. Some examples are slow-acting non-repellent baits for ants and cockroaches (so the active ingredient reaches the queen via trophallaxis), tamper-resistant rodent stations with sealed entry points, exclusion hardware for wildlife, and residual perimeter treatments where warranted. Never a one-size-fits-all spray.
- Seal & Exclude: For rodents and wildlife, treatment without exclusion is temporary. We seal entry points with commercial-grade materials — 16-gauge galvanized steel mesh, heavy-gauge flashing, and expansion-resistant sealants — after confirming the structure is clear. All exclusion coverings on wildlife work come with a lifetime warranty. For insects, we advise on structural and environmental factors that will need remediation to prevent re-infestation.
- Follow-Up & Guarantee: We provide a 30 to 60 days for most insect treatments because the multi-month life cycles of ants, cockroaches, and bed bugs mean a single visit is rarely sufficient based on infestation level. Bed bugs always require 2 visits to break the reproduction cycle and known as 'super bugs' due to ability to grow resistance to chemicals over time. Our work is backed by a written re-treatment guarantee. If the pest returns within the guarantee period, we return at no charge.

Carpenter Ant Swarm Season: Birchcliffe, Cliffside, and Scarborough Village's ravine-adjacent properties face strong carpenter ant pressure from parent colonies in the bluffs' dead wood. May–June swarming season is when mature indoor colonies announce themselves: winged alates appearing inside confirm a nest already established in the structure. Treatment applied in May eliminates the colony before the next generation disperses. Scarborough's older wood-frame bungalow stock is the primary at-risk housing type.
